I grew up in the 80s. I love ccr, but I was more into van halen, reo, etc. In 2020, my brother passed away suddenly from sepsis acquired during chemo treatment for cancer. Up until that point, he had been kicking chemos ass and people were astounded at how well he was holding up even though he'd been in chemo for months. He had a chemo port in the shoulder area and a feeding tube into his stomach. We had to learn how to use it, but he never had to use it. He didn't lose his hair like most people do. Maybe he would have eventually, but doctors nurses and his family were all amazed at how well he was getting through chemo. Then, on a Sunday night he was sick, had to go to the doctor the next day for a transfusion, he went to bed and never woke up. Shock is the only word I can use that even comes close to describing the next day. At some point, I got into my car and drove to nowhere. Just wanted to get on the road for a minute, I wasn't really aware of what was on the radio, until this song came on. I had never heard it in my life. My brother and I were both saxophone freaks. We couldn't play but when we saw bands like Jackson Browne and Bruce Springsteen with Clarence Clemons playing the saxophone, it just stuck. I pulled over and listened to a song that I had never heard before by CCR no less. Amazing. Amazing Grace even. So this song may have saved my sanity and even if I wouldn't have gone insane, I guarantee this song sped up the healing process. Big time. So thanks God! My brother was a huge Beatles fan. The next song was here comes the sun. The song after that was on the road again by Willie Nelson. That is all I needed. I did get back on the road again. I went home. So thank you John Fogerty for writing that song. And thank you to the powers that be, for playing that particular song at that time. Goosebumps don't even begin to tell the story. God bless.
